Our mission is to follow the great commission of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in our community through worship, fellowship, and discipleship growth. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Welcome to St. John's Lutheran Church, Deanville, Texas
We at St. John’s are excited about what God is doing in our midst. We are a growing family of faith which has been in ministry for more than 100 years in the Deanville community. We are a member congregation of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Our vision is to spread the good news of the saving grace of God given us through his Son Jesus Christ. In this regard we seek to worship God wholeheartedly and to cultivate a growing fellowship with God and growth in our discipleship walk.
We believe that each person is an important part of the body of Christ and has been given gifts to serve God and others. We therefore seek to encourage one another to get involved in serving God in his church by serving one another and ministering to those in need. Ministry opportunities at St. John’s include the prayer shawl group, sewing group, German Fest committee, Church Council, music ministry, and children’s ministry.
Our 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning worship at St. John’s is both traditional and contemporary. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is important to our congregation as of way of experiencing the grace of God as we remember the sacrifice of his Son Jesus for our sins. Holy Communion is observed on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month and is open to all believers. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God which has been given to help us to know God personally and to instruct us in the way in which we are to live our lives with Christ as the center. The sermon messages each week are Bible based and seek to show us how to apply God’s word in our lives. We have Adult Bible Study at 9:00 a.m., and Children’s Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. during the worship hour.
We believe that fellowship with one another is important in the life of every Christian as a way to encourage us in our faithfulness. To that end we have numerous fellowship opportunities, including potluck fellowship every 2nd Sunday of the month following worship, Senior Fellowship which meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month, and annual gatherings such as the Hay Ride, Trunk-or-Treat, and Vacation Bible School.
Our German Lutheran heritage is important to the life of our congregation. We have a German Fest celebration on the 3rd Sunday of May which celebrates all things German from lederhosen to alpine music.
We invite you to be a part of our Church Family as we strive to make Christ known to the world and to glorify God.
Blessings,
Terry Moon
